Choosing What To Wear for a Summer Wedding

With wedding season about to hit, it is likely that you are going to have plenty of invitations coming your way. Most of these are going to have some sort of indication about the type of clothing that you will need to wear to that wedding. Here, we figured that we would take the time to ‘decipher’ the more common dress codes, this way you can get hold of your summer wedding attire as soon as possible.

Formal

This may also say ‘black tie optional’. This is where you will need to wear a suit. In the summer months, you may want to opt for a linen wedding suit. It will stop you from overheating. Try to opt for a lighter color too. Black is a no go, but navy or gray should keep you nice and cool.

Semiformal

Very much the same as the previous one, but you can be a bit more casual. For example; if it is going to be a beach wedding, then you may want to opt for loafers. In fact, some people may even want you to wear sandals. Proper sandals, not cheap ones. Ask before you turn up if you are unsure, however.

Beach Formal

If you are heading to beach weddings, then this is going to be something that you will become very familiar with. These are the more relaxed suits. Beach wedding apparel for men here should be linen. Nice, free flowing linen. We recommend that you go for something that is white. It is both casual and will ensure that the heat is kept away from you.

Your dress shirt may want to have a bit of color to it, although many people just stick to the standard white.

You won’t be wearing sandals here, but you do not need to wear socks. Just a decent pair of shoes should be fine. You are on the sand, after all.

Festive Attire

This is something which many destination weddings have. This is where you can get a bit more experimental with the clothing that you are wearing. Get creative with the colors. Basically, that suit is there to get you noticed. If you really want, then a good pair of sneakers (and we mean a good pair), would certainly not go amiss. This is one of the best types of wedding to dress for as you can end up having a lot of fun with your outfit!

Casual

Khakis paired with a nice shirt should be good for this one. Try and look decent. Don’t go too casual. People have spent money on this wedding, after all!

Black Tie

You must wear a tie. Simple this one! This means a tuxedo too. It does not have to be a black tie, but choose something which fits the rest of your outfit. Thankfully, you won’t be getting many destination weddings that call for this. If they did, most people would have passed out from heat stroke before the bride even sets foot on the aisle!
